Footsteps
of the Pharaohs
|
Cairo
Cairo provides a great culture, with its magnificent
Egyptian Museum, Great Pyramids and Sphinx, art
galleries, bustling bazaars (souks) such as the Khan
al Khalili Bazaar – largely unchanged since the 14th
century, mystical mosques, and the Coptic area with
its interesting churches and Museum. A 3 night stay in Cairo will include 2 full day tours to take
in the main highlights, with another day and night
at the end of the tour for shopping or more
sightseeing.
Luxor
Previously the ancient city of Thebes, which
was at the centre of the culture of Upper Egypt,
Luxor has often been called the world’s greatest
open-air museum, as indeed it is and much more.
The number and preservation of the monuments in the
Luxor area are unparalleled anywhere in the world.
Fly to Luxor and overnight at one of the most
charming hotels in Egypt. Visit the glorious Temples
of Luxor and Karnak on the East Bank. Attend the
Sound & Light performance of the Temple of
Karnak.
From Luxor the wonderful Valley of the Kings and
Queens is visited, including the Tomb of Tutankhamen
(optional extra), the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut,
the newly renovated
Tombs of the Nobles with their marvellous
frescoes, the Ramesseum - the funerary Temple of
Ramses, and
the Colossi of Memnon.
Ask
us about a hot air balloon flight over the Nile
River and Luxor!
An absolute highlight is the Sound & Light
performance of the Temple of Karnak.
Aswan
The town stands on the first cataract where the
desert comes right to the river’s edge and rocks
and islands fill the Nile. It marked the ancient
frontier between Nubia and Egypt, and its quarries
provided kings with finest granite throughout the
Pharaonic period. Today, the High Dam, the Sadd el
Ali, has brought new prosperity to the area. It is
without doubt the prettiest and least spoiled town
for visitors to Egypt. Feluccas ply the swift
flowing river taking visitors to the various
islands: a sail on one in the fabled scarlet
Egyptian sunset is a must.
Take
a felucca around the islands of Aswan to learn about
the local Nubian villages and their culture.
If staying in Aswan, then consider the Sound
& Light performance of the Philae Temple.
Nile
Cruise
Highly recommended when visiting Egypt, is to take a
Nile cruise. Most popular are the 4 night cruises
between Luxor and Aswan.
See below for a choice of Nile cruise ships.
Abu
Simbel
A must from Aswan is an Abu Simbel extension –
unforgettable!
After a short flight, visit the superb
Temples of Ramses II & his beautiful wife
Nefetari. Abu
Simbel is perhaps the most complete example of
ancient Egyptian architecture, carved into the
cliffs. Here
Ramses II built an impressive temple dedicated to
the god Amon, and a smaller temple built for Queen
Nefertari. There
are 4 seated giant statues of Ramses at the entrance
of the great Temple.
Ask
for our 10 day/9 night Footsteps of the Pharaohs
itinerary which includes a 4 night Nile cruise and
accommodation of your choice. Alternately we can
tailor-make an itinerary to suit your needs.

Extension
to Sharm el Sheikh
|
|
Sharm el Sheikh is situated on the
Gulf of Aqaba at the southernmost tip of the Sinai
peninsula. The Sinai is quite distinct from the rest
of Egypt. Enjoy
this breathtaking scenery where the desert and
dramatic mountains meet the Red Sea.
The simplicity of sun, sea and sand. The
luxury of five-star hotels, water sports, shopping
and entertainment. This is Sharm el-Sheikh, one of
the most accessible and developed tourist resort
communities on the Sinai peninsula. All around are
Bedouins, colourful tents, mountains and sea. There
are small, intimate hotels with modern designs, as
well as larger hotel complexes belonging to
International chains, plus about all the amenities
one could expect of a tourist centre, including
casinos, discos and nightclubs, golf courses and
health facilities. In fact, with diving and
snorkelling, windsurfing and other water sports,
horses and camel riding, desert safaris, and great
nearby antiquities, it is almost impossible for a
visitor to ever suffer from boredom. Four miles
south, the southern section of the town stands on a
cliff overlooking the port, offering
a great view.

Extension
to Sahl Hasheesh |
|
Sahl
Hasheesh is a new luxury resort approx. 18kms south of
Hurghada on the Red Sea, with hotels that offer luxury
and exquisite charm, due to the superb architecture
and lavish interiors. Each hotel has a different theme
and aura behind it, making them each one of a kind. It
has one of the largest marinas in the region, as well
as a yacht club, and a “little Venice” with small
canals and gondolas, and miniature bridges.
Sahl
Hasheesh's aim is to be a resort unlike any other in
the region. One of the main attractions is the
"Sunken City" - an entire historic city
underwater, to resemble the " lost city of
Atlantis." The concept is a pharaonic city that was part of Sahl
Hasheesh area, which sank millions of years ago. While
walking along the 250 metre long boardwalk connected
to the pier, one will be able to see the "sunken
city" whilst standing on dry land.
