Santorini

Santorini

Santorini

The beautiful, the romantic, the mysterious . . . perched on the lip of a volcanic crater, reputed to be the site of the lost city of Atlantis. Santorini is today a stimulating and intoxicating blend of excitement and culture, together with stunning unforgettable views of the caldera. An island you'll always remember.

Created from a volcanic eruption in 1628 BC.  Santorini is one of the most unique locations on earth.  You can create your own tempo of holiday on Santorini but one thing for sure, you will be spellbound by magnificent and unforgettable views over the caldera.  Thira with its dramatic aura is the perfect base for excursions to the volcano, excavations of Akrotiri and Kamari beach.  The quieter and striking village of Oia is famous for its stunning sunsets and makes an ideal honeymoon destination.

Mykonos
Barren and bathed in strong sunshine, full of windmills catching the breezes, Mykonos is famous for its cosmopolitan lifestyle, and has something for everyone.  From the modern harbour you walk along white-washed alleys to churches in the island style, past shops selling local arts and crafts, small taverners, cafes and discos.   The night life is vibrant and exciting as it overflows the dazzling white lanes of the town.  By day the white sand beaches are full of sun worshipers.  Be sure to cross to the sacred island of Delos opposite, and admire its superb monuments.

Rhodes

Steeped in history,( the island was once a crusader outpost) Rhodes has ancient bonds with Italy, France and Turkey and the island's architecture reflects their influences. The old city of Rhodes is surrounded by medieval walls and the Palace of Grand Master and the Streets of the Knights should not be missed.  Keep a day or two free to visit the ancient fishing village of Lindos with its magnificent Acropolis above and tiny mountain villages. Make sure you take time to explore the history of Rhodes with its huge Marina.  Where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood is filled with yachts hoisting flags from all over the world and the lively beaches are just a few of the great attractions this island has to offer, together with a climate that is near perfect throughout the year.

Naxos

Naxos

Naxps

Naxos Island is the largest and most fertile of the Cyclades. Due to its important agricultural production, it was one of the latest to be developed for tourism. For that reason, it has kept its authentic beauty which attracts more and more visitors each year.  Naxos has a great variety of things to offer to the visitor: it is an island with impressive mountainous landscapes with many isolated traditional villages, some of Europeçs most beautiful golden sandy beaches, a charming capital with its Venetian quarter, picturesque fishing villages, many Byzantine churches, and ancient ruins. The imposing gate - "Portara"- rises splendidly above the town, the last relic of the ancient 600B.C marble temple dedicated to Apollo.

Car hire is recommended here. The scenery in the countryside outside Naxos town is very beautiful; there are picturesque little villages scattered high up in the mountains or down in the valleys, with an abundant supply of water, lush vegetation, Venetian towers, Byzantine monasteries and churches. There are many deserted beaches just waiting to be discovered. Sample the local wines in a beach-front taverns on a lazy afternoon. Perhaps you could take a day trip by ferry to Paros.

Sunset is a sheer delight on this island; despite the proximity of the noisy harbour and the crowded Chor, there is a sense of tranquillity which transports one back in time, creating a delightful feeling of being far away from it all. In the distance the island of Paros can be clearly discerned on the horizon.

Paros

Paros

From the busy little port town of Parikia to the pretty fishing village of Naoussa, Paros presents a very traditional picture of a Greek island - with sandy beaches, white-washed houses with blue shutters, a landscape dotted with tiny churches and cliff-tops with stunning views. Instead of the usual barren landscapes of the Cyclades, the first impression of Paros is that of a Mediterranean-green island. The oldest church of Greece is found in the capital of Paros, Parikia. A well developed network of bus routes entirely encompasses Paros and its 120 km of coastline.

Samos
Samos is a beautiful, green island with many places to visit. Lying just over a kilometre from the Turkish coast, this is an island with an interesting history. It has played host to Antony and Cleopatra as well as being home to Pythagoras. Samos provides a wonderful spring-board into Turkey together with great beaches and sunshine.  It is a fairly large island, and the people on the island live off tourism and agriculture, mainly olives and fruit. The local wine is well known and worth a try. Most holidaymakers stay in Pythagoreon (which was the ancient capital) or Kokkari. Both places have many shops, restaurants and bars but they have still not been over commercialised. The latter is considered a very good spot for surfing since it is situated at the windy north coast. It is a very good idea to rent a vehicle and explore the island on your own.
