potential for skiing.

The
Magic of Cappadocia in Winter
Cappadocia is a fascinating place to visit at
any time of the year. The natural wonder of
Cappadocia is a result of volcanic deposits
being eroded away by wind and water over millions
of years. These soft rocks were hollowed out
by early Christians and used as secret dwellings
as they were being sought first by Roman and
later by Byzantine persecutors. The sight of
the Fairy Chimneys is phenomenal. Add a layer
of snow to these landscapes and the result is
magical. Tours are offered daily throughout
the year to this region.

| Palandöken
Ski Package
- 2 nights at Kapadokya Lodge
(incl. tour)
- 7 nights at Dedeman Palandöken Ski Centre
- all airport-hotel transfers
Palandöken;
rising in the authentic atmosphere of an historic
town in Eastern Anatolia, offers endless skiing
pleasure. Reached by a road through splendid
mountain scenery, only 5kms from Erzurum airport,
this ski resort is competitive with those of
Europe.
Situated
on the Palandöken mountain, which is completely
snow-covered for seven months of the year, the
Dedeman Palandöken Ski Centre boasts some
of the longest (12kms) and most difficult slope-angled
ski runs in the world. There are blue (easy),
red (intermediate) and black (advanced) ski
tracks for you to take your choice. Another
attraction of Palandöken is the almost
complete absence of mist, the skier's dread,
and this, combined with the best snow quality
in Turkey, makes it a favourite haunt of expert
skiers. Our recommended hotel is situated on
the mountain. This is the place where you can
learn just how much fun skiing can be.
The
fascinating city of Erzurum, located on a high
plateau at 1950 meters, and a mere 6kms from
Palandöken, is a great place to explore
whilst you are in this part of North-Eastern
Anatolia. Unused to seeing a lot of foreigners,
the locals give a warm welcome to any visitors.
Erzurum has some very fine buildings and a lively
market area including the Rustempasa Bedesten
Covered Bazaar. The city walls and fortress
are reminiscent of the period of Byzantine rule.
Of particular importance are the remaining Seljuk
buildings - brilliant examples of a fascinating
aesthetic. You can also see Ottoman buildings
in Erzurum. The great architect Sinan left his
mark on the city in the Lala Mustafa Pasa Mosque. |
