At COMO Cocoa Island, luxury and sustainability go hand-in-hand: from menus built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients to innovative waste reduction solutions across the guest accommodation and restaurants. Dedicated to preserving the beauty of the island while supporting local community to flourish. COMO’s white-sand private island escape in the Maldives is an intimate, romantic resort with 33 overwater villas above a turquoise lagoon. At its heart? The spirit of ease — and an exceptional COMO Shambhala wellness retreat. In South Male Atoll, Ease is everything, with COMO Cocoa Island located just a 40-minute speedboat ride from the international airport. Stroll down wooden walkways to your suite — with our one- to three-bedroom villas occupying the gently curved shapes of local ‘dhoni’ boats.
FACILITIES & SERVICES
COMO Cocoa Island’s 33 overwater suites and villas look like gently curved local dhoni fishing boats, docked at a wooden boardwalk reaching out over the lagoon. The spacious, elegant design evokes both the open horizon, and a sense of privacy, allowing you to slip into the sea from your terrace.
Dhoni Water Villas – Our split-level Dhoni Water Villas stand out for their unique design: shaped like a traditional Maldivian ‘dhoni’ fishing boat, they make you feel like you’re floating on the ocean. The Dhoni Loft Water Villas have an expansive lower-level living area and a master bedroom on the mezzanine, making them great for families.
Water Villas – In these Loft Water Villas, the horizon feels like it extends forever as you look out from your private sundeck or watch the ocean roll past the floor-to-ceiling windows. These one-bedroom water villas sit on the eastern end of the resort, each with a private pool and deck surrounded by the aquamarine ocean. The two-bedroom overwater COMO Sunrise Villa has separate wings and a private pool directly above the ocean. The three-bedroom COMO Sunset Villa features two standalone villas connected by a wooden walkway and is named for its spectacular sunset views. Both villas can be booked together as a three-bedroom or separately to suit your requirements.
The menus are steeped in the nuances of South Indian cuisine with light curries, seafood and salads. We also offer contemporary interpretations of other Asian and Mediterranean classics. Our healthful COMO Shambhala Kitchen remains a favourite with regulars, from morning juices to evening broths.
Our tranquil COMO Shambhala Retreat in the Maldives is a deeply restorative destination. Treatment rooms overlook the lagoon and lush foliage. We also have one of the only hydrotherapy pools in the Maldives, where high-pressure jets massage the body — a safe and powerful therapy.
