Today is a full-day Culinary Delights tour to explore all of the tasty treats that Istanbul has to offer, and to immerse yourself in the local way of life by exploring the city by foot and public transport. Your first stop this morning is at the famous Spice Bazaar, built in 1663, with its domed and vaulted shops selling spices and herbs, Turkish Delights (“lokum”), nuts, and many other exotic delicacies. Most ingredients found in traditional Turkish cuisine are found on the shelves of the stalls here. Along with your guide, you will then hop on a local tram to get to your private cooking class (10.30-2.30),which includes 2-hours of hands-on cooking, followed by a 2-hour lunch, during which you will receive copies of all of the recipes created. With a full belly, you will then proceed to Karakoy by foot or by tram, to take the funicular to Pera and walk a short distance to Taksim Square, passing by the oldest fish market in the city, authentic street food stalls featuring roasted chestnuts, steaming corn on the cob, and freshly squeezed juices, and lively Nevizade street, home to many great local restaurants. Your tour can either finish with a return to your hotel, or if you wish you are free to stay on and explore this ‘new’ side of the city at your leisure.
*Cooking class includes 5-course lunch, 2 glasses of wine, water, coffee, and tea.
* All transportation is carried out on public transport, however Taxis can be taken if necessary
